Shopify theme customisation modifies your existing theme's Liquid code to add sections, change layouts or alter behaviour. It is generally preferable to installing an app for the same result: no monthly fee, no injected scripts on every page, and no conflicts with other apps.

Questions people actually ask
Will customisations survive a theme update?
Custom sections generally do; edits to core theme files may not. We build as separate sections and snippets wherever possible to minimise what an update can overwrite, and document any core file changes so they can be reapplied.
Is custom code better than an app?
Usually, when it is a display or layout feature. Apps are the right call for genuinely complex systems: subscriptions, loyalty, reviews infrastructure. For a custom badge or layout, an app is an expensive way to add load time.
Can you work on a premium theme?
Yes. Premium themes are usually well-structured and pleasant to extend. We work on a duplicate and publish only once you have approved it on the preview.
